The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center announces Stories Untold: The 2015-16 Season. This collection of 50 theater, music, comedy, and dance performances presents tales told in many ways – from nationally syndicated NPR radio story-telling hour, The Moth, to classic tales told through dance with The Moscow Festival Ballet’s “Cinderella” and Arlo Guthrie’s fantastically woven yarn that led to the classic song and album, “Alice’s Restaurant.” Tickets to all shows are on-sale to the general public Friday, August 21 at www.zeiterion.org, 508-994-2900 or at The Z Box Office, 659 Purchase Street, New Bedford.

The 2015-16 season begins September 25 with award-winning U.K. singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading. This performance is part of her world tour – her first as a solo performer, as well as her last major tour. Also appearing this fall, wise cracking comedian, Saturday Night Live alum and star of Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck,” Colin Quinn, Grammy-award winning guitarist Peter Frampton, the first New Bedford Ted Talks Tedx Conference, the national tour of “Flashdance The Musical,” and Broadway royalty Alan Cumming in “Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs.”

The story of the season continues with the first area performance by the renowned Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, New Orleans virtuoso Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Jasmin Guy in the story of Harlem’s renaissance “Raisin’ Cane,” Los Angeles dance company Body Traffic, “A Night with Janis Joplin” starring the original Broadway performer Mary Bridget Davies, comedian Joy Behar and so much more.

“Many tales you’ll hear this season are told on-stage by these exceptional performing artists, but we believe that the best stories come from the audience,” explains Rosemary Gill, Executive Director. “This season celebrates those stories, and throughout the year, we’ll be collecting and sharing compelling narratives like love blossoming on a first date or of rediscovering ethnic heritage and pride at a Fado performance.” Everyone is invited to tell their stories at storiesuntold@zeiterion.org.

Tickets for shows in the Stories Untold: The 2015-16 Season are available by phone at 508-994-2900, online at www.zeiterion.org, or in person at the box office at 684 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA. Box Office Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and two hours before each performance.
