“On Wednesday, June 1st a “free range” cow, dubbed “Rosie,” was causing quite the commotion as it wandered about the streets and lawns of Wareham residents. The Wareham Department of Natural Resources said she was having a “total disregard for the Mooooooovvvveeee Over Law!”

Rosie was initially spotted in the vicinity of Maple Springs Road at the Maple Springs Wildlife Management area and heading towards the Charge Pond area. Rosie seem stressed and agitated and police were unsure how to go about wrangling Rosie as they searched for her owner.

Shortly thereafter, the Wareham Department of Natural Resources pursued Rosie as she strolled down Rickie Lane in East Wareham. The owners were eventually contacted and helped assist officials in wrangling her and bringing her home safe and sound.

The Wareham Department of Natural Resources advises residents in the future that if they find an animal – wild or domestic – that is roaming the streets and placing itself and motorists at risk, you can call the Wareham Police Department dispatch who can put you in contact with DNR officers.” -Wareham Department of Natural Resources.
