Search persists 1 week after Myles Standish shooting that claimed life of New Bedford man

John Geovanni Pires Monteiromacedo is wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of Robert Aponte-Flores, 25, of New Bedford. It’s been 1 week since the incident took place at Myles Standish State Park and police are still working to bring the suspect into custody.

The District Attorney noted:

“Multiple witnesses on scene described that an altercation took place in a picnic area of the park between the victim and John Geovanni Pires Monteiromacedo, 20, prior to the shooting.”

“Upon arrival, Plymouth Police and first responders located the male victim, and he was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess-Plymouth Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries.”

As a result, Massachusetts State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Monteiromacedo.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fusion Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE.
