It’s not very common to see a tornado touch down in Massachusetts, which is why citizens of North Brookfield were alarmed to find out a tornado hit and traveled 2 miles during the storms Sunday morning.
An EF-0 Tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service in North Brookfield with Peak Winds of 80 mph and a Path Length of 2 Miles. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage reported, but this does serve as a reminder that tornadoes can occur in Massachusetts.

Although Massachusetts is not known for devastating tornados, they can occur. In 2011 a series of 5 tornados broke out including a powerful EF-3 level tornado which was directly attributable to three fatalities. In addition, two hundred people were treated for injuries and over $227 Million dollars of damage occurred.
