On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, a man jumped on the hood of a school bus after forcing it to stop on Route 90 Westbound in Newton.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Brett Blanciforti indicates that a 42-year-old Dorchester man was traveling on Route 90 Westbound in a 1999 Toyota Corolla when, for reasons still under investigation, he stopped in the middle travel lane, forcing the school bus behind him to stop. The man then exited his vehicle and attempted to gain access to the bus by the side entry door, but was denied access by the bus operator.
The bus operator attempted to drive away, but the man walked in front of the bus and jumped up on the hood. Eventually the man got off the hood and the bus driver was able to drive away.
The operator of the Toyota has since been identified by the State Police and this investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
At the time of this incident, no students were on board the bus.
