UPDATE: The victim of the crash has been identified as Liana Bellefeuille, 25, of Middleborough. Ms. Bellefeuille was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer at the time of the crash, which occurred at the 0.2 mile-marker on I-495 northbound.
State Police were on scene in the early morning hours of a fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 495 northbound in Wareham.
Patrols from the Bourne Barracks and the Middleborough Barracks responding to a call about debris in the road at 1:26 a.m. discovered a sport utility vehicle that had gone off the road into the woods. A victim suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No information about the victim is being released at this time as notification to family is underway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
Only the breakdown lane remains open on the northbound side at this time as troopers process the scene.
