The New Bedford Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 606 Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford on Monday night. Following extinguishing the fire, the NBFD released a statement detailing the situation.

“On arrival crews were faced with fire showing at the rear of a 2 1/2 story, single family home. Neighbors attempted to extinguish the fire with buckets of water, slowing the spread of fire.

Fire crews did an outstanding job quickly extinguishing the fire while conducting a search of the interior, removing multiple family pets. The occupants were not at home at the time of the fire but will be able to reoccupy the home.

New Bedford Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause. NBPD, EMS and Animal Control assisted with the efforts.”
