Rhode Island man arrested in Massachusetts after allegedly stealing car from Dunkin’ Donuts and causing accident

“Last night, at approximately 12:30 AM, the West Boylston Police Department responded to a one car accident on Thomas St. for a car vs. pole. Upon arrival, the vehicle was unoccupied. A check of the registration showed that the vehicle was stolen out of Providence, R.I.

Area police departments responded for backup, and a Mass State Police K9 began a track, north into Sterling. Just over the line in Sterling, officers found a suspect, that was later arrested.

Arrested was: Domingo F. Ortega, Age 35, of Ohio Ave., Providence, R.I. Charges were: Using a M/V Without Authority, Negligent Operation, Leaving the Scene of a Property Accident, and Unlicensed Operation of a M/V.

Mr. Ortega was held until court in the morning, and was arraigned at Clinton District Court. The involved motor vehicle was stolen from a Dunkin Donuts in Providence. The keys were in it and running.

Holden PD, Boylston PD, and Sterling PD assisted in the investigation and area search. The investigation is ongoing by Off. Mitchell Rogers and Off. Kyle Santoro.”
