“New Bedford police detectives have made a sizeable drug seizure and placed a wanted male into custody.

On December 20th, detectives assigned to the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” executed a search warrant at 83 Pawnee Ct., in the “Shawmut Village” housing complex.

As a result of their search, detectives located over a kilo (1,142 grams) of fentanyl and over 8 grams of cocaine. Along with the narcotics were digital scales, cellular phones, and packaging materials used in the illicit distribution of narcotics.

The target of the investigation was operating under several aliases. Following his arrest and subsequent fingerprinting, he was identified as Mr. FELIX BERRIOS COLON, 41. He was booked under this name; however, detectives are further investigating whether this is his true identity, or his actual name has yet to be revealed.

COLON was found to be wanted out of Essex Superior court for two open cases of trafficking in cocaine and heroin in August of 2021.

The arresting officer was Detective Alan Kubik.

The New Bedford police department remains committed to ridding the streets of fentanyl and other dangerous narcotics before they can cause further overdose deaths.
