New Bedford police seize Ruger .357 handgun, drugs and $6,328 cash

Last night at approximately 5:45pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 511 No. Front St. apt.1. This was the result of an investigation that was conducted by Det. Jarrod Gracia.

perdomoThe target of the investigation was taken into custody shortly after leaving his home. As a result of the search, a Ruger .357 handgun, 54 rounds of ammunition, 8 tramadol tablets (opioid pain medication) and $6,328 in cash was seized.

Also found in the apartment was an identification card from Costa Rica identifying the target as Freddy Camacho. Several Western Union money transfers were also found with the destination being Colombia.

Upon being fingerprinted, his true identity was discovered to be Elvis Freddy Camacho-Perdomo age 34. Records indicate that he was picked up by immigration officials out of Miami in 2003 for being a stowaway. (No other information is available on the circumstances.)

Mr. Perdomo will be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on drug and firearm charges.
