New Bedford police seize $30,965 in cash, arrest two men in drug bust

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 68 Nash Rd. apartment 2 in New Bedford. This was the result of a cocaine delivery service that was investigated by Det. Donald Williams.

The target of the investigation, Ailton Pina was taken into custody shortly after leaving the home in his Toyota Camry. A separate group of detectives simultaneously executed the warrant and found Ismael Gomes, in the apartment, seated at a table in the process of packaging cocaine.

As a result of the search, approximately 18 grams of cocaine, ½ gram of heroin, numerous prescription pills, a .223 caliber round of ammunition, as well as $30,965 in cash was seized. Also found in the apartment was packaging material for the narcotics.

The combined drugs have an estimated street value of $1,000.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on various drug charges:

  • Ailton Pina age 22 of New Bedford.
  • Ismael Gomes age 21 of New Bedford.
