Per the New Bedford Police Department:

“A 90-year-old woman who was recently robbed of her purse at Market Basket received a special gift Friday, courtesy of the New Bedford Police Department.

Members of the department collected $375 to replace the money that was stolen from her.
The woman, who prefers to remain anonymous, had painstakingly saved that money. She lives on a fixed income and values every penny she has.

The woman’s daughter told NBPD that her mother was very touched by and grateful for the gift. We were happy to help put a smile on her face and to remind the community that NBPD cares.”
