New Bedford Police charge man that has 70 arraignments in connection to last month’s stabbing

“NEW BEDFORD – Detectives have charged a man in connection with a stabbing that took place earlier this month.

On June 14th, patrol units responded to Harvard St. in the Presidential Housing development in response to an adult male who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, the victim presented with several wounds, and it was learned that two suspects had attacked him. The male was transported to the hospital and is making his recovery.

In the days that followed, Detective Matthew Sylvia conducted a further investigation and developed probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for the suspect. He has been identified as Mr. SAMUEL RODRIGUEZ, 38, of 195 Amanda Ave. On June 27th, RODRIGUEZ turned himself in at police headquarters and was taken into custody. He is charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon causing bodily injury.

RODRIGUEZ has an extensive criminal history with 70 adult arraignments on his record and convictions for a variety of offenses, including trafficking heroin, possession of a firearm, and A & B on a police officer.
