New Bedford Homicide Victim Identified

The victim of this morning’s New Bedford homicide can now be publicly identified as 36-year-old Luis Miranda of New Bedford.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide that occurred today in New Bedford.

At 1:01 am today, ShotSpotter alerted New Bedford Police to shots being fired in the area of 193 Weld Street. When first responders arrived on the scene, they located a male gunshot victim as the lone occupant of a Chrysler Sebring. The victim was determined deceased on the scene by New Bedford paramedics.

The investigation into the homicide is extremely active at this time and no further information about the facts of the ongoing probe can be disseminated.
