NBA legend speaks to Stang Students on Addictions & Recovery

Chris Herren, a NBA basketball legend from Fall River, came to talk to students, faculty and staff at Bishop Stang High School to share his tale of the descent into addiction, a miraculous recovery, and his new life mission of sharing his story with audiences in hopes of reaching at least one person and making a difference.

Following a DVD presentation of the Chris Herren Story, Mr. Herren spoke about experiences that have impacted his life as a teenager, athlete and speaker. He spoke on drug and alcohol use, peer pressure, bullying and cutting. The event concluded with a Q&A.

Beyond his speaking roles, Chris Herren runs Hoop Dreams, a basketball player development company, and The Herren Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing treatment navigation to assist individuals and families struggling with addition, education initiatives to increase awareness on the dangers of substance abuse and mentoring programs.
