“THANKSGIVING FIXINS!

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Troopers from our Troop D Community Action Team, along with members of the New Bedford Police Department, made their way to Hope Evangelical Community Church in Dartmouth to prepare 30 boxes of food for Thanksgiving.

Each box contained all the sides common to a traditional Thanksgiving meal, as well as items to make a proper breakfast the following day. In addition to the meals, each box had a $25 gift card to supplement the meal boxes.

On the following day, Troop D Community Action Team members, with the help of a few troopers from the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks and Troop H Community Action Team and New Bedford Police Officers, brought the boxes to the Presidential Heights Housing in New Bedford for their second annual Thanksgiving Meal donation. Those boxes were then handed out to 30 families in need. Troopers and local officers walked the meal boxes to vehicles and homes of those families.

At the end of the day, two additional area families were found to have a need and will have a box set aside from the church to be picked up at a later date.

The Massachusetts State Police Troop D Community Action Team would like to thank Hope Evangelical Church for providing the meals and making this event possible. A special thanks also to the Presidential Heights Resident Services Manager for identifying the families in need and making sure they got their meals, and to the Troopers of the Dartmouth Barracks and Troop H Community Action Team and New Bedford Officers for helping the families receive their meals.”-Massachusetts State Police.
