Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unity helps free Coast Guard cutter entangled in fishing gear

image_pdfimage_print

“The Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit on Monday assisted the US Coast Guard Cutter Campbell by unfouling her propellers and running gear, which had become entangled in fishing gear and lobster pots during a recent patrol out of Cape Cod Bay.

The commercial fishing gear was restricting the Campbell’s maneuverability. The MSP unit, familiarly known as the Dive Team, mobilized quickly for the mission to free the Campbell on Monday morning. Troopers removed the commercial gear (seen in the second photo on the deck of the MSP boat) and the cutter was quickly back in service.

It was our honor to assist the Campbell so that her crew could resume its homeland security and enforcement mission.
