Man arrested for home invasion in New Bedford public housing

23-year old Leeland Guidry of New Bedford is being charged with intimidation, assault and battery and other charges after he allegedly broke into a home in New Bedford public housing and held the occupant against his/her will at 3:45 am on Sunday.

New Bedford police report that Guidry was arrested for breaking into a home at the Parkdale New Bedford Housing Authority at 968 Rockdale Ave. and assaulting the occupant. He allegedly damaged the window to gain access. While inside, he allegedly assaulted the occupant and prevented him/her from calling the police. Police report Guidry knew the occupant and according to the charges, the victim may be a witness against Guidry in court.

Police are charging Leeland Guidry with unarmed burglary, malicious destruction of property, witness/juror/police/court official intimidation, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
