Five shots fired near Monte Park in New Bedford

New Bedford police officers were dispatched to the area of Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street on reports of shots fired around 1am. Shot Spotter indicated 4 shots in that area. Officers located 5 spent .40 cal shell casings as result of a preliminary investigation. .40 cal bullets are generally associated with a Smith & Wesson handgun. No Damage or Injuries were reported.

    • I’ve lived in the west end of new bedford my entire life.. I’m 30 years old.. Been to about 19 funerals for friends I grew up with bc of gang violence..this place is a TERRIBLE place to raise your children I have 3 of my own and trying hard to get away from here.. My brother was shot in his face last year ..dead at 24…whoever is glorifying new Bedford is a lying asshole… I love it bc it’s home and my family is here but other than that it’s a Shit hole that breeds violence and drugs ..be happy your not from here…
