Dog killed, three families displaced in New Bedford fire

Three families have been displaced and a family dog was killed in an early morning fire on Chancery Street in New Bedford.

A fire broke out at 1:15 am at a multi-family building on 299 Chancery Street in New Bedford. The fire started on the first floor and took New Bedford Fire Department​ fire fighters two hours to bring the fire under control. Unfortunately the fire took the life of a family dog. Firefighters did everything they could to save the pup. American Red Cross has stepped in to help the three families that have been displaced.
