Boston Police Officer shot multiple times in Roxbury after interrupting robbery in progress

At approximately 9:00pm last night a Boston Police officer went to the area of 44 Sedgewick Street in Roxbury for a reported obbery in progress.

When he arrived to the area of Cedric Street near Magazine Street he encountered the the suspect who was armed with a firearm. Upon verbally engaging the suspect, the suspect immediately started shooting striking the officer in the foot and buttocks.

Two other Boston officers were on scene began struggling with the suspect and were able to quickly arrest him. Both officers received minor injuries in the struggle.

“Thank goodness the officer struck multiple times is still with us. This just goes to show all the difficult work that our officers deal with daily,”” said Police Commissioner Michael Cox. The officer who was shot was transported to the Boston Medical Center, which is a Level 1 trauma center, by a fellow officer so he could receive treatment quicker.

Boston Mayor Wu said, “This is a reminder of the risks (police) face every day.”
