new bedford guide bermuda shorts knobbly kneesWith one of the worst New England winters in recent memory nearing an end, Bermuda Shorts & Knobbly Knees – a celebration to wish away the winter blues –  is on tap at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, Friday, March 11, from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. in the Jacobs Family Gallery.   “It will be a great way to start off the weekend when clocks ‘spring ahead,’ ” said Harvey and Susan Wolkoff, co-chairs of the gala event.  All proceeds from …Knobbly Knees will be going to support museum programming.

Ditching the winter doldrums will be the order of the evening at this fun-filled, laid-back, Bermudian-themed affair. Caribbean style hors d’oeuvres, entrées, and tropical desserts will be provided by Blackstone Caterers, The Pasta House Restaurant, M&C Café, and Dorothy Cox Chocolates.   Festive cocktails are sponsored by Gosling’s Rums of Bermuda, featuring their trademark concoctions, like Dark ‘n Stormies®. Moby D Beer, a locally craft-brewed version of the American Ale, will also be on tap.

Entertainment will feature live calypso and jazz music with Pan Neubean Steel.   Activities include a silent auction and a special raffle to win a 7-night tropical cruise in spring 2012.  Donated by Cruise Hilidays of Lakeville, the raffle tickets are $100 each, and is limited to only 100 tickets.
