On Monday, December 7, 2015 Dartmouth Police Department Patrolman Shawn SOUZA apprehended a male shoplifter identified as Mitchell VIOLET (27) of Jason Court, New Bedford after a brief foot chase.
After stealing the items from Sears, VIOLET fled on foot across Faunce Corner Road to Best Buy, where Patrolman SOUZA apprehended him. Subsequent to his arrest, officers located a key to a 2007 Mercedes on VIOLET. After a brief search of the Sears parking lot, the Mercedes was located and determined to have been stolen out of New Bedford in November.
In addition to the larceny charge, VIOLET was charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and an outstanding warrant.
