The Schwartz Center is pleased to announce that its fifth annual Fishing For A Cause® recreational tournament is scheduled for Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the waters of Buzzard Bay. Tournament fishing grounds will encompass Cape Cod Bay to Block Island and beyond. These waters are historic and so are some of the fish that have been caught over the years.

The two-day tournament falls during a time of season in which many local fish species are migrating into and through our waters. With such biomasses of fish engulfing the region, anglers have the opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime while casting out into this unique situation. Several trophy fish were caught during the two days of last year’s tournament, highlighted by a Striped Bass pushing 55 pounds. With such a wide-range of fish species available to anglers, the three species chosen for this tournament were based on several factors including popularity among anglers and historic prevalence.

The qualifying species for this catch-and-release charity tournament are Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Fluke (Summer flounder). Awards for largest qualifying fish include: $2,500 for Striped Bass, $1,500 for Bluefish, and $750 for Fluke. The awards dinner is planned for Saturday, June 27, 5-10 p.m. under a tent at Pope’s Island, New Bedford, MA. Interested anglers can register online at $250 per participant, which includes dinner. Tickets for the catered awards dinner may also be purchased separately at $150 per person. For complete rules, to register, or more information, visit: www.fishing4acause.org or call (508) 996-3391.

Fishing For A Cause® was established in 2011 by and for the benefit of The Schwartz Center.
