51-year old man overdoses behind the wheel in New Bedford

New Bedford police arrested 51-year old William Gurnett of Revere, MA for OUI drugs at 9:30am on Saturday.

Officer Patota was flagged down by a witness who informed him that a male was slumped over the wheel of his black Nissan at the exit of the Fairfield Inn located on McArthur Drive. As the officer approached the vehicle it was running and in gear but not moving because Gurnett’s foot was on the brake. The officer secured the vehicle and began tending to the male. The male was administered several doses of Narcan and was eventually transported to the hospital.

Evidence of drug use was found in the vehicle. Gurnett is being charged with: OUI DRUGS. Fortunately there were no injuries or damage to other vehicles or property.
