On Saturday, October 26, members of the New Bedford Police Gang Unit arrested a man after a brief foot chase. Officers arrested 21-year old Alexander Fortes with no certain address of New Bedford after he was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm.
Mr. Fortes was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license and receiving stolen property less than $1,200. Mr. Fortes is due to be arraigned in District Court on Monday, October 28. The arresting officer was Detective Lorenzo Gonzalez.
