20-year old victim of yesterday’s New Bedford homicide identified

The victim of yesterday’s homicide in New Bedford can now be publicly identified. The victim was Jonas Trinidad Jr., 20, of New Bedford.

New Bedford Police, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred Wednesday in the City of New Bedford.

New Bedford Police received 911 calls at 11 a.m. Wednesday to report that a young male had been shot near the intersection of Matthew and Bank streets.

The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation and the search for the shooter is active and ongoing at this time.
