How did New Bedford’s whaleships become part of a Civil War military strategy in Charleston Harbor? Come find out on Thursday evening, December 11 from 6:00-8:00 PM, at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s visitor center. Ruth and Abby, the
national park’s 1850s ladies, will be chatting about how whaleships were a part of the Stone Fleet.
Then join Ruth and Abby in making paper tree ornaments on the 2nd floor of the Corson building. Exploring the story of the “Stone Fleet” expands the New B Under the Sea project, which invites everyone to join in with the park and partners to discover the fate of New Bedford’s whaleships.
