Get a load of these temperatures! Fifty degrees for three days in a row?! This a great time of year: cool nights and perfectly warm days. You can feel Spring is in the air. Not only has nature begun to thaw, but warmer weather always brings out the thaw in the locals! The only “bad” aspect about this weekend’s weather is the spots of rain on Friday and Saturday, but we’ll take it! Spring means more events, so head on out and enjoy the many goings-on in the region.

Have fun painting “Garden Sunflowers” at Painting w/ a Splash!

Daffodils at dusk (Bristol) (5:00pm-7:00pm)
Sip a complimentary signature cocktail or lemonade as you journey through Blithewold’s enchanting spring garden at dusk. Watch as the daffodils, fiddlehead ferns, and leaf buds slowly awaken before your eyes as the sun slips below the horizon. Each week will feature ambient music and lighting by Luke Renchen Entertainment to highlight a playful evening among the daffodils. Welcome to Painting with a Splash where you are the artist! Painting with a Splash is the newest addition to Historic Whaling City Downtown New Bedford. Bringing you an experience of art as entertainment. Add a little wine (BYOB) that will surely tap into your creative side. With step by step instruction and a little music, you and your friends will create the evening’s featured painting with a splash of your own uniqueness. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Golden to Gilded Walking Tour (Newport, R.I.) (10:30am-11:30am)

Back by popular demand! Hop over to the Buttonwood Park Zoo to meet the Easter Bunny! FrogWatch Lecture at Buttonwood Park Zoo (11:00am-12:30pm)
Amphibians play a critical role in ecosystems around the world. Not only do they eat pests like mosquitoes, but they are also an important food source for many vertebrates – making the loss of frogs and other amphibians detrimental to a habitat. Today amphibian species across the globe are disappearing at an alarming rate due to many factors like habitat loss, pollution, and disease. This has led scientists to predict that 30 – 50% of all species could face extinction. But hope is not lost! FREE with admission.

FrogWatch Training at Buttonwood Park Zoo (1:00pm-3:30pm)
Become a citizen scientist! Local frogs need your help! Amphibian populations are declining worldwide so it’s important to learn as much as we can about these animals. Here’s how you can help! Join the Buttonwood Park Zoo’s FrogWatch Chapter! FrogWatch USA is a nationwide frog and toad monitoring program. Learn to identify local frog and toad calls at two training sessions on Saturdays, March 7th and April 4th. Then explore local wetlands to help contribute critical data to the long-term scientific study. Ready to become a citizen scientist? Call to register 508-991-6178 x 31. (Ages 7+).

FREE poetry reading, book signing reception (Mattapoisett) (2:00pm)
Join us for a free public reading by noted poet Jeffrey Harrison on Saturday, April 4th at 2 pm. The reading will be followed by a book signing and reception, sponsored by the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library.
