New Bedford Guide Facebook Posting Guidelines

new-bedford-guideNew Bedford Guide has become one of the most popular websites and social media presences in the South Coast, Massachusetts region. Due to this popularity, we get hundreds of requests a week to share information.

Here are our guidelines for posting information on our Facebook page:

  • We will share tips and news that benefits the Greater New Bedford community. We define Greater New Bedford as New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven and Acushnet. Good examples are news, lost pets and fundraisers. We also like to share Rochester, Mattapoisett, Marion and other local news when appropriate. We also share Massachusetts and national news if it affects New Bedford.
  • We will share all charity and other non-profit information on our website and social media pages at no cost. We define a charity or non-profit as an organization that spend the vast majority of their funds on a cause and the organization has no marketing funds. Please don’t ask us to give free marketing and advertising if you are spending money on other media organizations. If you have a marketing budget contact us. We can reach more people at a lower cost!
  • If you are a for profit company please contact us at info@newbedfordguide.com for our marketing rates. We’d love to promote your product/services to 100s out thousands of local residents at a low cost. We offer banner advertising, article spotlights, article sponsorship, social media marketing, social media management and more!
  • If you have a photo that you wish to share send it to info@newbedfordguide.com. Posting photos is considered trade. We will promote your photos and tag your Facebook page or website. New Bedford Guide gets great content and the photographer gets exposure to tens of thousands of followers, likes to their Facebook page, traffic to their website and a good chance to get job requests. We do NOT own the rights to your photo. Feel free to watermark them!

  5. Hello. My friend, Alan, lost a pug named Oscar from the Portuguese Feast in New Bedforn, Massachusetts on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 3:00 – 3:30. This was during the parade portion. Oscar was last seen in front of Saint Joseph Saint Therese Parish church on the lawn. He has tags saying “Brookline Hospital and Brookline, MA.” His collar is red. He is 6 years old and, like all pugs, tan and black. He is exceptionally friendly. There is a reward. If you find him, please post back here. Thanks very much.

  8. Dear Editor,

We hope this email finds you well.
A local candidate running for a significant office has failed to respond to the League of Women Voters of South Coast’s invitations to participate in a debate. The Letter to the Editor below and the attachment explains the concerns of the League of Women Voters of South Coast and the debate scheduled for enlightening voters about the candidates and the issues concerning Marion, Mattapoisett, Fairhaven, and a part of New Bedford. We are hoping this Letter to the Editor encourages candidate Mr. Joe Pires to respond in the affirmative.

    Thank You,
    Eileen J. Marum

    RE: Letter to the Editor

    Dear Editor,

The League of Women Voters of South Coast, previously known as the League of Women Voters of Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester, has been organizing candidate debates, forums, and meet-and-greets for over 35 years. LWVSC has scheduled a candidates’ event on October 17th at the Old Rochester Regional High School Auditorium, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Throughout all these years, we have never encountered a situation where a candidate running for a significant office failed to respond to our invitations to participate in an event.

LWVSC has made efforts to reach out to Mr. Joe Pires, sending a letter on September 12 and an email on October 3rd, inviting him to participate in the October 17th Candidates’ Event. However, we have not yet received a response from Mr. Pires.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that operates at the national, state, and local levels. Its primary purpose is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government which includes hosting voter registrations and providing voter education on candidates that enables informed voter decision-making during elections.

The League of Women Voters faces challenges in its voter education initiatives when candidates lack interest in engaging with potential constituents. This absence of engagement impedes the LWVSC’s ability to facilitate candidate introductions, provide summaries of their qualifications to voters and the general public, elucidate their suitability for the sought-after office, and offer insights into their comprehension of their role, the job’s scope, and associated responsibilities.

    Sincerely,
    Kris Eastman, Co-Chair
