Fort Taber Fort Rodman 17th Century Militia Drill Day living history program

The Fort Taber Fort Rodman Historical Association, Inc. in cooperation with the City of New Bedford are sponsoring a living history presentation Saturday, June 11, 2016, as part of the Association’s continuing recognition of those who served from the colonial period to the present.

The camp will be open, free to the public, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Period weapons demonstration will occur at 11:00AM and at 1:00PM. Living historians representing early American colonists of the Dartmouth Militia who are dedicated to educate about the life of a colonists in 17 th century Dartmouth and from the Crew of the Raven a local group of maritime historians will provide a living history presentation at the City’s Fort Taber Park.

•The Dartmouth Militia is dedicated to educate, study, and share 17th and 18th century life in New England.

•The Crew of the Raven is a group of maritime living history explorers, researchers and reenactors focused on the naval, privateering and pirating histories of the Western European countries, their colonies in the New World and emerging America. The Fort Taber ~ Fort Rodman Historical Association, Inc. is committed to assisting in the restoration, preservation and perpetuation of Fort Rodman and its surroundings and demonstrating how this fort is representative of the development of coastal fortifications from the Colonial period though the mid-20th century. The Association also is dedicated to preserve the memory and legacy of our area veterans and their service to our nation.

The Fort Taber ~ Fort Rodman Military Museum is open daily from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
