The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center Welcomes Comedian D.L. Hughley June 26th

The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center welcomes comedian D.L. Hughley, known for his astute and politically savvy brand of comedy, on Sunday, June 26, at 8 p.m. Hughley has been entertaining audiences for over 25 years as one of the most popular and highly recognized stand-up comedians on the road, thanks largely to his key role in the documentary The Original Kings of Comedy. Tickets from $29.50 to $69.50 are available at www.zeiterion.org, 508-994-2900 or at the Zeiterion box office, 684 Purchase Street, New Bedford. A post-show meet and greet with Hughley is included with the purchase of a $69.50 ticket.

Currently, Hughley can be seen in NBC’s new medical drama, Heartbeat, as head psychiatrist Dr. Hackett, and he can be heard as the host of his own nationally-syndicated radio program, “The D.L. Hughley Show.” He is also on the road with George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy as part of “The Comedy Get Down” tour.

“From the minute I first walked onstage and picked up a microphone,” Hughley says about the start of his career. “I knew that it was what I was meant to do.” In addition to comedy clubs, he has made a major splash in television, film and radio. His rise to fame included hosting BET’s stand-up comedy show ComicView, then he went on to star in his namesake television show, The Hughleys. He has many other appearances across the television landscape, including as an actor in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Scrubs, guest host of many talk shows such as The View and Live with Kelly and Michael, and even as a contestant in Dancing with the Stars. He also created and starred in the satirical documentary special for Comedy Central D.L. Hughley: The Endangered List, which was honored with the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award in the 72nd Annual Peabody Awards competition.
