Westport, Dartmouth Fire Departments battle blaze at town auto sales and repair shop

“A quick and aggressive interior fire attack, made by Westport’s firefighter/paramedics around midnight last night, kept this structure fire contained to the office space of an auto sales and repair shop.

While the office space suffered significant fire damage, the remainder of the shop only had some minor to moderate smoke damage.

Engine 3, Engine 4, and Car 2 responded to the call, aided by off-duty and on-call firefighters. Mutual aid was received from Dartmouth Fire District 3’s Engine 1 and Unit 2.

Investigators are looking into an electrical appliance that may have been the cause. There were no injuries. Fire crews cleared the scene around 0200.
