State Police Investigating Hit-and-Run of Highway Worker in Fall River

State Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle that struck a highway worker and sped off Thursday night.

At 8:12 p.m. Thursday an employee of Liddell Brothers Corporation was struck by a vehicle on Route 24 northbound just north of Route 195 in Fall River.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Kyle Duarte indicates that the employee, a 57-year-old woman, was placing a work zone sign in the breakdown lane of Route 24 northbound when she was struck. The employee suffered injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The vehicle that struck her failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

The woman’s injuries are serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
