13 Things To Do This Weekend (Mar. 10 – Mar. 12)

After some absolutely gorgeous weather, almost spring-like, winter is returning with a vengeance. The bouts of snow and lots of cold will serve as a reminder that winter is not over yet. While it is going to be cold, I wouldn’t describe it as being brutally so. Certainly not so cold that you can’t enjoy some of the fun events going on across the South Coast and beyond!

Lastly, a piece of very important advice in light of recent sad news: beware of carbon monoxide when running heaters and please take precautions.

14 Things To Do This Weekend (Mar. 03 – Mar. 05)

Only the most die-hard New Englanders will wear their shorts this weekend because some arctic wind will be blowing in. This cold breeze will make already cold temperatures – in the 20s – drop to single digits, even negatives in some places in the state. The good news is that in spite of the cold, it will be sunny the vast majority of the weekend. Saturday will not crack 22 degrees in terms of temperatures, but Sunday will be much “warmer” with a high of 32 degrees. You can wear your shorts on Sunday.

Lastly, a piece of very important advice in light of recent sad news: beware of carbon monoxide when running heaters and please take precautions.

14 Things to do this Weekend (Feb. 24 – Feb. 26)

Yes, it’s still winter, but you wouldn’t think so based on the past few days and this weekend’s weather. We’ve been in the 50s in terms of temperatures lately and this Saturday we’ll hit a very uncharacteristic high for this time of year, 61 degrees. Downright heat wave! The only “bad” spot about the weather this weekend is the low of 29 degrees on Sunday morning and there will be plenty of moments of cloudiness. First world problems!

Lastly, a piece of very important advice in light of recent sad news: beware of carbon monoxide when running heaters and please take precautions.

14 Things to do this Weekend (Feb. 10 – Feb. 12)

On Thursday, nature reared her head and reminded us that she is still here by dumping over a foot of snow on us. Once your lower backs have recuperated from the shoveling, you’ll likely want to exorcise your cabin fever by heading out and doing something. While we are getting some flurries on Saturday (very little accumulation) and some rain on Sunday, we’ll experience temperatures in the lower 40s. So, if you’re shoveled out, you’ll have nothing stopping you from enjoying some weekend activity!

Lastly, a piece of very important advice in light of recent sad news: beware of carbon monoxide when running heaters and please take precautions.

As always, click on the title for more or detailed information on the event. Most of the events were pulled from our event calendar where you can find hundreds of local area events each month. New Bedford Police investigate three armed robberies, likely related, over weekend

Police are stepping up patrols after three armed robberies believed to be related, two at the same location, were reported at area convenience stores.

At 7:24 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, police received a report of armed robbery at XtraMart, 117 Durfee St. A clerk told police a white man wearing a black hoodie, grey sweatpants showed a stun gun-like device to the clerk, stole money and fled west on Durfee Street and south on Caroline Street, where he possibly got into a tan older vehicle.

At 9:26 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at the same location, police received a report of a black male, 20 to 30 years old and about 5’6’’ tall robbed the store, brandishing a stun gun-like device. The suspect was said to be wearing black pants, a black hooded jacket and a black bandana with purple markings. He stole cash and then may have fled on a bicycle, headed west on Durfee Street.

At 7:11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Bizarro Food Mart, 556 Kempton St. The clerk told police a suspect described as a male wearing black pants, black shirt and a winter hat with his face covered displayed a black cylindrical object. He stole cash and then left the store, headed north on Newton St.

12 Things to do this Weekend (Jan. 13 – Jan. 15)

First a snowstorm that dumps somewhere about 15″ inches of snow and snowbanks 2-3′ feet high, then a few days later 50 degree temperatures melt it all. Only in New England! The good thing about this weekend is that there will be no snow – that’ll give our sore backs a happy respite. The “bad” thing about this weekend isn’t really that bad: while we will go below freezing overnight and mornings we’ll be above freezing for daytime temperatures for the most part. Saturday being the exception with 31 degrees, but that’s shorts and a hoodie whether in my neighborhood.

Lastly, a piece of very important advice in light of recent sad news: beware of carbon monoxide when running heaters and please take precautions.

As always, click on the title for more or detailed information on the event. Most of the events were pulled from our event calendar where you can find hundreds of local area events each month. The event calendar is FREE, so if you are a local business, and not taking advantage of FREE publicity, shame on you! Are you a local business and want to sponsor this high traffic, weekend guide?
