New Bedford Police charge 3 with weapons and narcotics offenses after weekend raid

“On March 26th, detectives assigned to the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” executed a search warrant at 71 Harwich St., #2. The targets of the investigation were LEROY MOSLEY, 50, JIILL MARTIN, 45, and CHERI JARDIN, 28.

As a result of the search, detectives discovered approximately 44 grams of “crack” cocaine, over 3 pounds of marijuana, numerous suboxone strips, and over $800 in cash that was seized. Detectives also located a cache of weapons including 4 handguns, a sawed-off shotgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition of varying calibers, and a stun gun. A bullet-resistant vest was also found.

MOSLEY and MARTIN were both taken into custody and charged with a variety of offenses including cocaine trafficking in excess of 36 grams, multiple counts of illegal firearm and ammunition possession, and one count of possessing a large capacity firearm among other criminal charges. MOSLEY was also charged under the “career criminal” statute, due to his prior convictions of weapon possession and armed robbery.

CHERI JARDIN, who was not on scene, will also be charged and summoned to court to answer for the offenses. The investigating detective was Drew Frenette.

In the last 10 days, detectives assigned to the bureau have taken 8 guns out of the hands of individuals who possessed them illegally. In the last 8 days, the same detectives have made 24 arrests for a variety of offenses.
