New Bedford Police charge 28-year old repeat offender with narcotics and firearm offenses

** COCAINE, WEAPONS & CASH FOUND ON REPEAT OFFENDER **

Police have seized narcotics and weapons from a residence in the south end.

On January 17th, at around 7 PM, Detective Nathaniel Almeida concluded an investigation into a cocaine distribution operation being operated out of 73 Mosher St. The target of the investigation was Mr. DESHAWN HUNT, 28, of apartment #3.

A search warrant was executed on the apartment as detectives looked for evidence. As a result of the search, HUNT was found to be in possession of over 108 grams of cocaine and 4 Percocet tablets. Digital scales and packaging materials used to prepare narcotics for street-level sales were also discovered. $2,015 dollars was seized as a result of being proceeds from illicit activity. Detectives also located two 9 MM handguns.

HUNT has previously been convicted of illegally possessing a firearm stemming from an incident in 2017. During that incident, shots were fired at a victim who was believed to be a witness in a homicide investigation.

As a result of this investigation, HUNT was placed under arrest and is charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 100 grams, illegal possession of two firearms and a large capacity magazine, and possession of a class B substance.
