Massachusetts State Police collect and deliver winter clothing for homeless

During the snowstorm in early December Troopers at the Ted Williams Tunnel Barracks (H-9) were made aware of the critical shortage of winter clothing, particularly jackets, among the homeless in the areas that they serve around Mass Ave. and the Mass Ave. Connector.

As a result, Troopers made contact with the relations manager at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Their response was that they will absolutely take donations of jackets and continued to say they were not receiving jackets in enough quantity to meet the needs of the people they help.

These Troopers are asking that you go through your closets/basements/ attics etc. and see if you have any unused cold weather clothing, particularly weather-resistant jackets, but also hats, gloves, boots, sweatshirts and consider donating them to help the homeless in their patrol area. These donations can be brought to the Tunnels Barracks located at 100 Massport Haul Road in South Boston by Friday, December 20th, 2019. From there, the clothing will be brought to the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program for distribution to the needy.

Pictured here is Trooper Daniel Santa, and yes his last name really is Santa, with some donated jackets!

Thank you for your consideration and happy holidays!
