Massachusetts invests $75 Million in New Bedford Port Infrastructure

“The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has awarded $75 million to the Port of New Bedford for projects that will enhance port infrastructure.

The investments announced by the outgoing Baker Administration came after the legislature appropriated up to $190 million in port infrastructure across Massachusetts.

The three grants to New Bedford will increase the port’s economic competitiveness and help drive job retention and creation. The New Bedford Port Authority will receive $15 million to extend its bulkhead and terminal space for the North Terminal Facility.

The New Bedford Foss Marie Terminal will receive $15 million for its redevelopment from a dormant power facility into a bustling facility for offshore construction, operations, management, and support.

Finally, the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal will receive $5 million to continue facility enhancements.

Today’s announcement follows the Seaport Economic Council’s awards to six New Bedford projects, totaling over $2.3 million.”
