Fugitive on Massachusetts ‘Most Wanted’ list flees traffic stop, leads police on chase

On Thursday, June 15 at approximately 3:00pm, a Massachusetts State Trooper on patrol spotted 24-year old David Lynch behind the wheel of a BMW X1 SUV in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn in Middleboro. Lynch is on the State Police Most Wanted list for the alleged shooting death of 26-year-old John Abreu DePina in Brockton last year.

As police approached Lynch’s vehicle to make contact, he spotted the officers, and sped from the scene, ramming two police vehicles in the process.

Police immediately followed the fugitive, but lost sight of him. While driving in the direction that Lynch took, police heard the sound of a crash and came upon an accident scene at the intersection of Orchard and Warren streets in Raynham.in which Lynch’s damaged BMW SUV was spotted. Lynch and his passenger could be seen getting leaving the scene, and after a short foot pursuit, both were captured and arrested.

Lynch’s vehicle had slammed into another driver, who suffered serious injuries and required transportation to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. Their name and an update on their condition were not released.

Lynch and his passenger were transported by police escort to Good Samaritan Hospital with injuries but those injuries were not life-threatening.

Lynch will be charged with murder and armed assault in a dwelling along with a litany of drug and gun offenses, stemming from the homicide investigation. He and his unidentified passenger will also be charged in connection with the chase and crash,
