Crabgrass to present free concert, Thursday, July 24

Maritime Music at National Park Summer Concert Series

The 2014 Thursdays in the Park Concert Series continues with a performance of maritime music by the group Crabgrass on Thursday evening, July 24, from 6:30-7:30 PM. The free concert takes place in New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s garden, 33 William Street, downtown New Bedford. In the event of inclement weather the performance will be moved indoors to the National Park theater.

Daisy Nell, a native of Essex, MA, brings alive New England’s maritime history through traditional songs of the sea. A familiar voice on the North Shore music scene, she is known for her broad repertoire of traditional folk, chanteys, and contemporary songs. Her husband, Stan Collinson, (Captain Stan), adds his guitar and dobro to Daisy’s banjo and guitar. Pat Conlon of Gloucester and Steve Wainwright of Marblehead fill out the band. Together this group called Crabgrass covers a lot of territory, from the foc’s’le to the farm!
