Bishop Stang defeats Apponequet Lakers 58-50 to win MIAA title

Last night at New Bedford High the ranked 3rd Bishop Stang Spartans took on the ranked 5th Apponequet Lakers in the MIAA South Division 3 Finals.

Apponequet controlled the first quarter, taking advantage of Stang’s offensive struggles, giving them a 17-8 lead. Stang’s struggles continued into the second quarter, where they found themselves down double digits. The broke the slump with a 3 point basket, and in the last few minuted cut the lead down to 5, going into the half down 29-24.

The Spartans came out in the third quarter and took control of the game, outscoring the Lakers 22-10, they took the lead. The two teams played a pretty even fourth quarter, but the Lakers were not able to outscore Stang for the third quarter in a row.

The Bishop Stang Spartans beat the Apponequet Lakers 58-50, winning the South Division 3 Championship, sending them to the state semi-finals.
