Acushnet Police arrest two in home robberies

The pair was booked at the Acushnet Police Station and later transported to the Ash Street Regional Lockup.

On Wednesday, 8/19/15 at 2:14PM, off duty Acushnet Police Officer Kevin Walsh observed a suspicious white male enter a back yard on Lake Street in Acushnet. The male was described as a tall, skinny, white male wearing shorts and a black tee shirt. The male also had what appeared to be a black tee shirt/tank top tied to the top of his head and was speaking on a cell phone. Officer Walsh approached the male who claimed to be looking for a job site The male left the property abruptly and entered the passenger’s side of a dark grey 4 door Pontiac Grand-Am that was parked on the opposite side of the street, about 150 feet west of the home. The vehicle then headed west on Lake St toward Middle Rd.

Moments later, Officer Danny DeAmaral located the vehicle traveling south on Middle Rd at Hamlin St with a female operator and male passenger. Off. DeAmaral conducted a traffic stop, and was assisted by Detective Sergeant Tom Carreau and Officer Michael Matton. Immediately visible in the vehicle were several lock boxes, pillow cases filled with items, and a 12 inch long crowbar. Off. Walsh positively identified the male from the vehicle as the male that had been in the back yard on Lake St.

At about the same time, Sergeant Christopher Richmond was approached on Lake St by a resident of Middle Rd. The resident reported that he had just returned home and found his house had been broken into. Entry was gained by forcing open a rear door to the house. Among the items stolen were and a grey lockbox/safe, jewelry, a Kindle tablet, and pillow cases. Those items were located inside the suspect vehicle.

The occupants of the vehicle, 30 year old Robert Alton Greene of 20 Dry Cedar Swamp, Bourne, MA and 26 year old Caitlyn Ellen Connolly of 30 Colby Rd, Bridgewater, MA were placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed additional items in the vehicle were stolen from a home in Freetown earlier in the day.

They were booked at the Acushnet Police Station and later transported to the Ash Street Regional Lockup. They were set to be arraigned on the charges Thursday, August 20.
