New Bedford man cited after accident on Braga Bridge leaves several seriously injured

At approximately 5:55 a.m. this morning Massachusetts State Police received multiple reports of a serious car accident on Rt. 195W on Fall River’s Braga Bridge.

Upon arrival, first responders came upon three seriously damaged vehicles, a 2023 Kia Sportage operated by a 29-year-old woman from Bridgewater, a 2020 Chevy pickup operated by a 30-year-old man from New Bedford, and a 2021 Cadillac XT6 operated by a 62-year-old man from Acushnet.

The New Bedford man who was the driver of the Chevy Pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. In addition, he was issued a criminal summons for motor vehicle related offenses. The operators of the Kia Sportage and the Cadillac XT6 suffered more significant injuries and were also transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

It took approximately 2 hours to clear the scene before traffic was resumed to normal.
