“Freetown Fire was called to 14 Washburn Rd. just after 6:30 pm Monday night. First arriving units found a 1.5 story structure fully involved in fire. The building was vacant and undergoing renovation.

There were no injuries reported.

Rochester Fire Department responded mutual aid for several hours until the fire was extinguished. At the same time on duty crews for Rochester were responding to several medical emergencies in their town.

Lakeville Firefighters also provided mutual aid, sending Engine 1 and Car 1 to the scene. A recall of off duty and on call firefighters was transmitted, with a strong response for coverage. The call back firefighters arrived in time to respond to simultaneous medical emergencies without delay.

Chief O’Brien would like to commend tonight’s service to our neighbors and our community.

Thanks to the mutual aid companies from Lakeville, and Rochester to the scene and coverage with Dartmouth Dist. 3 at Headquarters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation By Freetown Fire, Freetown Police, and the State Fire Marshall’s office. The Providence Canteen also responded providing rehab for our crews.”-Freetown Fire Department.
