On Monday afternoon, F/V Miss Sandy was returning to Gloucester after a trip out at sea when crewman, 49-year old Nicolo Vitale, fell overboard.
He was eventually located in the water, pulled back on board and found to be unresponsive. He was rushed to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester where he later died.
It is unclear how long Vitale has been in the water and the cause of death has yet to be released.
