New Bedford Firefighters respond to fishing vessel fire at Merrill’s Wharf

“This morning at 8:38am, the New Bedford Fire Department responded to Merrill’s Wharf for a fishing vessel fire. First arriving crews reported smoke extending from a 30’ lobster boat. Members of Engine 1 deployed a 1 3/4 hose line and extinguished a fire inside the pilot house.

Marine 38 also responded to assist and deployed boom to contain an oil spill in the area of the vessel. The fire cause is under investigation by the NBFD Fire Investigation Unit.

City of New Bedford Police Department (Official), New Bedford EMS, MassDEP, and the Hazardous Materials Officer assisted on scene.”-New Bedford Fire Department.
